The course itself is pretty fun. There are 3 holes I could do without, though. The landing zones for those 3 holes are close to impossible to hit even for a decent ball striker as myself. Course knowledge is a must for this course, especially these 3 holes in speak of. 18 being kind of annoying. I hit a perfect 3 iron straight down the middle, only to find I was completely blocked out by a large tree. But again, this is course knowledge issue.

The greens are probably the most unique greens I've ever played on. The shape of the greens is very quirky and difficult, and small but I actually like it a lot.

No range. Hitting into a net, which is kinda lame, but I get it with the new 18th hole, you have to walk towards the range. So I get closing it off for players coming off 18 walking back to the cars would be in the line of fire.

The Proshop/Restaurant was extremely disappointing. Granted, they said they're getting a new proshop. The "restaurant" was very disappointing...
The Barqs root beer I ordered was expired by a year, and the chips were going to expire in 13 days... The chicken bacon ranch wrap was disappointing, and I'm pretty sure I'll probably get sick from and we ordered turkey sandwich at the turn was very boring.

Just eat before or bring your own food...

About 15-20 minutes from Lake Spanaway Golf Course, we played here in the afternoon after playing Lake Spanaway that morning. This course was in pretty good shape. Some tee boxes were slightly choppy. The narrow fairways were nice & the elevated greens were dry and fast. Some trees and hazards, but not many. It felt like the course was compacted onto a property that was just big enough for a course, as many holes run back to back with little space between fairways. We got turned around on the cart path once or twice, but hey, it was our first time there. Other golfers here were very friendly and helpful. 18th hole is under construction and on an alternate-green. Great course, definitely worth a play if you haven't been here before. We'll be back first chance we get!

So this may be a lengthy post so I apologize. The course was a good course and it was challenging. This definitely was not the best course but it wasn't the worst. Unique layout and having some challenging holes/greens were great. The bathrooms were infested with spiders and also had no running water, and the par 3 tee boxes could use some attention. The reason why I'm giving it a 1 star is based mostly off the customer service. When I checked in I asked for a cart. The guy informed me that my group had two carts and I explained that while we had 2 carts we have 5 people with us because my wife wanted to spend time with me while I played. He looked almost insulted and said slowly said, "so let me get this straight you want 3 carts for 4 players plus 1 additional?" I said yes. He then looked at me and said, " it sounds to me like you guys shouldn't be playing today." I said did you just say that? He then doubled down and said it again. I asked him what he wanted me to do with 5 people and then said look I apologize. He said, with a sarcastic attitude, "no it's ok we are just really busy today so I guess another group will have to walk because you want 3 carts." You would think I just him if we could use his personal golf cart. Needles to say after speaking with my friends who have been to this course before, they too have had a very negative encounter with this person before and are the reason they haven't went back yet. We only went to this course because Spanaway Lake didn't have a reasonable tee time. My friends said this course has now turned into their "last resort course" and if this is how they do business it will most likely be my last resort course as well.

I give this 5 stars because I know how hard everyone involved with this course works to make a diamond out of coal. Joe and everybody at The Classic are great people! It's too bad the ownership turns a blind eye to upgrades, but for what it's worth, The Classic is a great test of your game. Perfect greens and tough putts will challenge the flat stick. Well manicured fairways reward those keeping the ball in play off the tee. Uneven lies and bunkering test approach shots. All in all, if you learn to golf well here, you can take that game to any course in the country. Also, if you golf often, the RMG unlimited pass is one of the best deals around.

Been going there for years now- Course is in great shape as always and the new 18th Hole is amazing! 90 degree dog leg Par 4! Can't wait to go back soon! Squirrel on the course stole a Peanut M&M from our cart and went to town on it!
